City Secretary: FKD-MPU Working Meeting Can Solve Food Security and Population Problems

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono opened the 24th 2024 Working Meeting of the Mitra Praja Utama Regional Cooperation Forum (Raker FKD-MPU), at Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta, Friday (5/17).

Very relevant to the actual issues

On that occasion, he highlighted some of the problems being faced. One of them was regional government synergy to manage sustainable food security.

"The theme 'Synergy of Regional Government Partners with Praja Utama in the Development of Sustainable Governance and Food Security' is very relevant to the actual issues faced by MPU member regional governments, besides issues of population administration and efforts towards a global city," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Through the FKD-MPU Working Meeting, he said that the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of the ten FKD-MPU member provinces could formulate joint policies to overcome the issue of food security. It was because most of the FKD-MPU members have made a large contribution to providing national food supplies.

He assessed that the problems of population data collection and administration that have not been integrated are often faced by regional governments as members of the FKD-MPU.

"The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration's support and direction is important regarding population movement services. So, population data becomes more accurate and the use of APBD for social assistance facilities is more targeted," he explained.

As a consideration in handling population administration issues, he continued that the Jakarta Government proposed several recommendations, namely eliminating the Flag K (Freeze) approval process for population data by the Home Ministry considering the data was the result of reports from urban village heads and officers in the field. Then, additional provisions were important regarding guaranteed housing, employment, and skills for prospective immigrants. If the migrant did not meet these additional conditions, the guarantor was responsible for returning the migrant to their area of origin. Then, at one residential address, only allowed to have a maximum of three family cards.

He also stated that the commitment and synergy that had existed between the 10 FKD-MPU member provinces needed to be optimized, either through Joint Agreements or Cooperation Agreements. So, in the future, hopefully, all members will be able to become development catalysts.

"Let's use this forum to share ideas in the context of formulating policies, and designing a roadmap for the MPU regional cooperation program for 2025-2029, which can be integrated into the regional mid-term regional development plan (RPJMD). This is also expected to be a forum for aligning the steps of Jakarta and other FKD-MPU members to become global cities while supporting the achievement of the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045," he closed.
